Flutterwave, Africa’s leading payments technology company, has deepened its footprint in Central Africa with the official launch of fully licensed digital payment services in Cameroon. The expansion follows regulatory approval from the Central Bank of Central African States (BEAC), positioning Flutterwave as one of the few fintechs authorized to operate at scale within the country.

The license, granted in collaboration with Ecobank Cameroon, allows Flutterwave to provide a broad suite of digital payment solutions—including mobile money, card payments, and bank transfers—fully compliant with regional financial regulations. This strategic milestone is expected to significantly boost digital financial inclusion and business efficiency across Cameroon.

With this regulatory green light, businesses of all sizes can now leverage Flutterwave’s platform to receive payments through customers’ preferred channels and settle transactions in local currency, mitigating foreign exchange complexities and enhancing operational fluidity.

“Cameroon represents a key market in our mission to accelerate digital transformation across Africa,” said , Founder and CEO of Flutterwave. “We are proud to offer compliant, secure, and user-friendly payment solutions that support growth for businesses at every level—from entrepreneurs to large enterprises.”

Flutterwave’s official presence in Cameroon also reinforces its commitment to building trust and fostering sustainable economic partnerships within the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) region. The company’s entry is anticipated to support the digital ambitions of local businesses and government initiatives aimed at modernizing payment infrastructure.

, Senior Vice President for Sales in West Africa at Flutterwave, noted that the company’s understanding of African market dynamics has informed its product design and approach.

“We know the challenges African businesses face daily. Our licensed operations in Cameroon enable us to meet those challenges with tailored, large-scale digital solutions that ensure seamless transactions and financial confidence.”

This move comes amid increasing demand for agile, cross-border payment solutions in Francophone Africa, with Flutterwave already operational in over 30 African countries. The fintech unicorn continues to prioritize regulatory compliance as a core component of its expansion strategy, reinforcing investor and consumer confidence.

As Cameroon continues to evolve its digital economy, Flutterwave’s entry is expected to catalyze financial inclusion, create business opportunities, and support a more robust, interoperable payment ecosystem across the region.
