Burial Of Nigerian Businessman, Aminu Dantata Postponed Over Saudi Rules, Delay In Corpse Arrival | Sahara Reporters
Dantata died on Saturday in the United Arab Emirates, but his remains have yet to reach Madinah, Saudi Arabia, where the funeral is planned to take place.
The burial of renowned Nigerian businessman, Aminu Dantata, has been postponed as the Nigerian government confirmed a delay caused by the late arrival of his body and Saudi Arabia’s burial requirements.
Dantata died on Saturday in the United Arab Emirates, but his remains have yet to reach Madinah, Saudi Arabia, where the funeral is planned to take place.
Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, told the BBC on Monday, “There are regulations set by the Saudi government on how to bring a body for burial in the country, so now the paperwork is being filled out between the Saudi government and the family of the deceased.”
According to Idris, once the necessary documents are finalised, the body will be flown from the UAE to Saudi Arabia.
He added that the Nigerian embassy in Saudi Arabia and the family have concluded funeral arrangements and are waiting for the remains to arrive.
