Bryan Acheampong Opposes Divisive Political Endorsements

Published 1 day ago2 minute read

Pius Enam Hadzide, spokesperson for the Bryan Acheampong campaign, has publicly stated that Bryan Acheampong, a hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, does not condone the use of fake or procured endorsements from Members of Parliament (MPs) in the party's ongoing internal race. This stance is rooted in the belief that such open declarations of support often prioritize individual ambitions over the collective welfare and unity of the NPP, potentially leading to deep divisions among its members.

Mr. Hadzide emphasized that Acheampong is "deliberate about not creating division based on fake and procured endorsements." He explained that while open endorsements are a common occurrence in political landscapes, they frequently serve personal agendas, particularly the pursuit of political appointments, rather than genuinely reflecting the party's best interests. He suggested that individuals wishing to express support should engage directly with delegates, rather than making public declarations on national media platforms, as delegates are discerning and capable of recognizing insincere endorsements. Hadzide further revealed that if Bryan Acheampong had sought public endorsements, he would have received numerous, but many individuals who approach the campaign for such declarations are perceived as not genuine, often calling Bryan before making public endorsements.

Furthermore, Mr. Hadzide urged the leadership of the NPP to abstain from openly displaying bias in the internal contest. He advocated for a more direct engagement strategy with the party's delegates, arguing that this approach would effectively prevent mistrust and suspicion, which are precursors to division. Such disunity, he warned, could severely jeopardize the NPP's prospects of securing victory in the crucial 2028 general elections. He underscored the necessity of collective effort, stating, "Ultimately, the person who wins the flagbearer position will not be able to accomplish the task alone; we will all need to work together." The NPP's presidential primaries are scheduled for January 2026.
