BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Brunei has signed agreements to establish a 30-megawatt solar photovoltaic power plant in the country, the local daily Borneo Bulletin reported on Sunday.

The project, which is to be located at Belimbing near Bandar Seri Begawan, will be a crucial step in the country's renewable energy initiative.

It will be a mega government-led solar project and the first large-scale solar effort under a public-private partnership.

The project will boost the country's renewable energy capacity and support the target of attaining 30 percent renewable energy by 2035.
