RIO DE JANEIRO, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Botafogo has reached an agreement with Argentina's Velez Sarsfield to sign highly rated teenager Alvaro Montoro, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Tuesday.
Montoro will be tied to Botafogo until December 2029 in a deal reportedly worth nine million U.S. dollars.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder is considered one of the brightest young talents in Argentine football, having scored three goals and provided one assist in the current edition of the Copa Libertadores.
He will be available for Botafogo's FIFA Club World Cup campaign in the United States starting June 14. The reigning Copa Libertadores and Brazilian Serie A champion has been drawn in Group B alongside Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Seattle Sounders.
