THE Bank of Tanzania (BoT) has pledged to deepen its collaboration with media outlets to enhance public understanding of financial matters, financial markets, and the national economy.
Opening a three-day seminar for business and finance journalists in Mtwara yesterday, the Director-General of the Central Bank’s Mtwara Branch, Nassor Omari, the central bank recognises the crucial role journalists play in disseminating information about the bank’s operations and providing financial education to the people.
“The success of the Bank of Tanzania has a certain contribution from media outlets,” Omari said, speaking on behalf of Deputy Governor Julian Banzi Raphael.
“We utilise the platform of media outlets to educate the public.” The seminar, organised by the central bank, drew journalists from Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam, Mtwara, Lindi and Ruvuma regions. Participants will delve into the central bank’s structure and functions, as well as the implementation of interest rate-based monetary policy.
Omari highlighted the seminars as a testament to the central bank’s recognition of the media’s contribution to informing the public on economic, financial, and market developments.
Earlier, while welcoming the Guest of Honour, the Public Relations Manager of the Central Bank, Vicky Msina, noted that the seminars, which bring together journalists from across the country, have been conducted for approximately 17 years.
She added that Governor Emmanuel Tutuba acknowledges the significant role of the media in informing and educating the public on economic, financial, and marketrelated issues.
She said that the BoT, through Governor Emmanuel Tutuba, recognises and appreciates the significant contribution of media outlets in disseminating news and educating the public on various issues related to the economy, finance, and financial markets.
