Bonnaroo 2025 Canceled: Officials Cite Severe Weather - NewsBreak
Less than halfway through the four-day Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, the event has been canceled due to severe weather.
The festival posted the news on its official social media accounts on Friday (June 13) evening. Earlier in the day, Bonnaroo organizers issued an evacuation notice to attendees due to the immediate threat of dangerous weather.
The cancellation comes after storms already rendered some of the festival’s onsite campsites unusable for guests – and on the heels of an update from the National Weather Service saying conditions would continue to deteriorate. Bonnaroo is a predominantly camping festival that annually hosts approximately 80,000 people.

“Today, the National Weather Service provided us with an updated forecast with significant and steady precipitation that will produce deteriorating camping and egress conditions in the coming days,” the Bonnaroo’s social media statement reads. “We are beyond gutted, but we must make the safest decision and cancel the remainder of Bonnaroo. We are going to make things right with you, and you will find refund information at the end of this message, but let’s start with the next steps.”
The message asked campers to consider their neighbors and, if their campsites were safe, to please camp overnight, allowing music fans in more dire circumstances to be prioritized.
“The number one thing we need from the Bonnaroo community is patience,” the message said. “Some of your fellow campers’ sites are in rough shape. The rain has settled in areas and made certain parts of Outeroo difficult to manage. We’d like to prioritize getting those folks, as well as those with accessibility needs, off The Farm as soon as possible this evening. To do this, we ask that if your campsite is in good shape or if you’re in an RV or pre-pitched accommodation, please consider spending the night with us, and we’ll start working to get you out of here safely tomorrow.”
Canceling Bonnaroo is the latest blow to the festival. Earlier this week, Jonathan Mayers, co-founder of Bonnaroo and Superfly Entertainment, died at 51 years old.
Organizers said they were crushed to cancel because they “put their hearts and souls into making this weekend the most special one of the year.”
“Thank you in advance for your patience, your positivity, and your unfailing Bonnaroovian spirit,” the statement read.
Music fans will receive refunds for their tickets – how much depends on which ticket they purchased. Those with one-day admission and parking tickets for June 13, 14, and 15 will get full refunds. Fans with 4-day admission and parking passes will receive a 75 percent refund.
Bonnaroo launched Thursday with country headliner Luke Combs, along with Dom Dolla, Insane Clown Posse, and Rebecca Black. Headliners for Friday – Sunday’s concerts included Tyler, The Creator, John Summit, Olivia Rodrigo, Avril Lavigne, Vampire Weekend, and Queens of the Stone Age.
