Boko Haram insurgents reportedly attacked Sanda Wajiri, a remote village near Kolofata in northern Cameroon, late Sunday night, killing four people and setting fire to homes and food stores.
According to security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who reported the incident on his X handle, the terrorists stormed the village heavily armed, shooting indiscriminately.
However, residents put up fierce resistance, managing to kill one of the attackers before the insurgents retreated.
"During the assault, the insurgents burnt homes, food stores, and other essential supplies, leaving the villagers in a desperate situation," Makama reported.
Meanwhile, the attack is the latest in a series of violent raids carried out by Boko Haram in the Lake Chad region, where Cameroon, Nigeria, Chad, and Niger have struggled to contain the insurgency despite military operations.
