The Kansas Jayhawks and Arkansas Razorbacks faced off in a very entertaining first round NCAA Tournament matchup. Bill Self and John Calipari are two of the best head coaches in the nation and their teams did not disappoint.

When the final whistle blew, Kansas came up short by a final score of 79-72.

Arkansas was led by a huge game from forward Jonas Aidoo, who scored 22 points on 10-of-19 shooting. Johnell Davis chipped in with 18 points as well.

As for the Jayhawks, Zeke Mayo led the way with 18 points, knocking down four of his five 3-point attempts. AJ Storr came off the bench to score 15 points in the loss.

KJ Adams Jr., a senior forward for Kansas, suffered an injury during the game. It didn't look good when it happened and the update that Self gave after the game was no better.

As shared by Pat Forde of Sports Illustrated, Self confirmed that the injury was an Achilles injury.

“He’s got an Achilles injury. I’m not sure it’s going to be great news," Self said. "To see him potentially lose a year on top of the game, that’s a tough blow.”

He scored 13 points in the loss before going down with the Achilles injury.

Throughout the course of the 2024-25 college basketball season, Adams averaged 9.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. He also shot 53.6% from the floor and knocked down 72.4% of his foul shots.

Adams' injury changed the course of the game for the Jayhawks. They were up three points when he went down and saw a 10-point swing by the end of the game.
