Big Caitlin Clark News Revealed After Fever's Blowout Win Over Sky

Published 11 hours ago2 minute read

The WNBA season kicked off this weekend, and Saturday’s season opener for the Indiana Fever at Gainbridge Fieldhouse was filled with drama, but it was all Fever from start to finish.

Indiana cruised to a dominant 93-58 victory over Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky, marking their largest season-opening win in franchise history. Caitlin Clark led the way with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, four blocks, and two steals.

However, she also drew a flagrant foul after a hard hit on Reese, which sparked an intense reaction. Reese quickly got up, charged toward Clark, and had to be separated by teammates.

Despite the altercation, the newly revamped Fever, under head coach Stephanie White and bolstered by their offseason acquisitions, had an impressive start to the season. Roughly 24 hours later, big news about Clark emerged.

The iconic sports magazine platform "SLAM" teased its newest cover, set to drop Monday. Although the cover athlete’s face is blurred, the outline and colors strongly suggest that Caitlin Clark will be the featured star.

Caitlin Clark has played a pivotal role in the major transformation and rapid growth of women's basketball, and Saturday’s game was a testament to that, along with her teammates and Angel Reese, who has also been a key figure in this evolution. The stadium in Indianapolis was packed to the brim—an increasingly rare sight for WNBA games, showcasing the rising popularity of the league.

The Fever will be back in action on Tuesday when they host the Atlanta Dream at 7 p.m. ET, before traveling to Atlanta on Thursday for another showdown with the Dream.
