The member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Honourable Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, has called on political leaders to reaffirm their commitment to the principles of justice, equality, and good governance as Nigeria marks this year’s Democracy Day.
El-Rufai, who also chairs the House Committee on Banking Regulations, in a message to commemorate the occasion, said Democracy Day serves as a reminder of the nation’s shared journey and the sacrifices made to uphold freedom and progress.
“As we celebrate Democracy Day, let us honour the foundation of our freedom and progress. This day reminds us of our shared journey and the need to uphold the values of justice, equality and good governance,” he said.
He added that building a better future requires intentional efforts from both leaders and citizens, especially at the grassroots level.
“Together, we must remain steadfast in our commitment to make Kaduna North a beacon of development and opportunity for all. As leaders, we surely must do more and we must strive to make the sacrifice for the sake of the public gain,” he added.
The lawmaker further stressed the need for unity and inclusiveness in deepening democracy across the country, noting that the dividends of democracy must be felt by the most vulnerable in society.
