AJ Tracey has partnered with BBC Radio 1Xtra to launch new album Don’t Die Before You’re Dead (out June 13).
The UK rapper previewed the album at BBC Maida Vale Studios and was in conversation with 1Xtra’s DJ Target.
AJ Tracey performed four tracks from the new album live – Crush, West Life, Joga Bonito and Paid In Full featuring Big Zuu, Wax, Ets and D7 – in front of an intimate audience of friends and family.
Don’t Die Before You’re Dead (Revenge Records) is AJ Tracey’s first album in four years.
"I don’t like rushing music,” he told DJ Target. “If you put out music that you rush, then it’s going to leave a legacy you’re not really proud of and I want to be proud of all my music.”
AJ Tracey’s 2021 No.2 album Flu Game has consumption to date of 138,274 units (Official Charts Company), while his 2019 self-titled Top 3 debut has amassed consumption of 204,211 units.
1Xtra’s Album Launch Party with AJ Tracey is available on BBC Sounds. It can be heard on DJ Target’s show on BBC 1Xtra on Monday, June 16 at 8pm, or viewed on BBC iPlayer and YouTube.
