Xavier Castaneda

Defending champion Unicaja Malaga (Liga Endesa) agreed terms with 25-year old American (has also Bosnian passport) guard Xavier Castaneda (184cm-85kg-2000, college: Akron) for upcoming 2025-26 season. Castaneda joins another USA player James Webb III who is already in the roster.
He played last season at JL Bourg en Bresse in French Betclic ELITE ProA. In 19 games he had very impressive stats: 17.1ppg, 2.2rpg and 3.5apg. 2024-25 was a great season as he was named to French ProA All-Star Game and to the French League All-Star Game. He also played 17 games in Eurocup where he recorded 13.5ppg, 1.5rpg, 3.8apg and 1.1spg.
The previous (2023-24) season he played at GS Lavrio Aegean Cargo in Greek GBL. In 24 games he averaged remarkable 15.1ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.5apg and 1.2spg in that year. Good season as he was named League Player of the Week.
He also represented Bosnia at the CBI Championship Winner six years ago.
Castaneda has played also professionally in NBA (LA Clippers).
His team made it to the MAC Tournament Semifinals in 2023.
He graduated from University of Akron in 2023 and it will be his third season as a professional player. Castaneda played also for University of South Florida for 3 years.
