Bankers League Gala kicks off at Legon Stadium with thrilling group stage action - MyJoyOnline
The 2025 Bankers League Gala began in lively fashion at the Legon Stadium on Saturday, June 28, 2025, as teams representing various financial institutions in Accra clashed in competitive group stage fixtures.
Fifteen teams are taking part in this year’s tournament, all vying for a place in the knockout rounds. The teams have been split into four groups, with the top two from each group set to advance to the quarterfinals.
Each team featured in two matches on the opening day, with four sides already securing quarterfinal berths. In Group A, Zenith Bank booked early qualification after dominant victories over National Investment Bank (NIB) and Ecobank, still with a match to spare.
Group B saw Stanbic Bank and Universal Merchant Bank progress after winning their respective openers, while CalBank cruised through Group C with wins against ABSA and GT Bank to top the group outright.

Group D, however, remains undecided. Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) and Republic Bank lead the standings with four points apiece, following a win and a draw each. Standard Chartered Bank and Omnibsic, on one point each, remain in contention.

The final round of group fixtures will be played on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Legon Stadium, followed by the knockout phase to crown the 2025 Gala champions.
The Gala serves as a curtain-raiser for the upcoming Bankers Football League season.
