Gunmen suspected to be bandits were said to have attacked Tadurga community in Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing an unspecified number of people, abducting many and rustling their cows.

Local reports said the bandits, numbering over 50, invaded the community on Monday night when people had retired to their various houses.

“We just heard gunshots from every direction and then people started to run out of their houses to escape from the invading bandits. The bandits looted many shops, killed many people, abducted some and also rustled cows,” a local,  Mansur Dabai said.

It’s been over two years since bandits carried out such attacks in communities under the Zuru Emirate.

A local, Ahmed Aliyu, said “The attack is the first in two years after farmers were denied access to their farms by the bandits. Through the security measures put in place by the government, farmers had returned to their farms but we were surprised by this attack.”

When contacted, the state Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said they were still investigating the incident and would get back to our reporter but he was yet to do so at the time of filing this report.
