A focused training programme on packaging, labelling, FSSAI licensing, and regulatory compliance was successfully held at Pathargaon Village in Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh, on Saturday.
Organized by Namsai Organic Spices and Agricultural Products Producer Co. Ltd. (NOSAAP) under the NABARD-supported rural mart project, the initiative aimed to strengthen self-help group (SHG) members, farmer producer organisations (FPOs), and rural entrepreneurs in value addition, branding, and market readiness of their local produce.
The training featured an in-depth session by NOSAAP CEO Chau Athina Chauhai, who explained sustainable packaging techniques, shelf-life enhancement, and consumer-friendly product presentation.
Participants also learned about essential food labelling requirements per FSSAI norms, including ingredient disclosure, nutritional facts, expiry dates, allergen information, and the FSSAI registration and licensing process.
Legal metrology rules and pricing strategies were also covered to prepare participants for effective market navigation. Addressing the attendees, NABARD assistant general manager Kamal Roy emphasised the critical role of proper packaging and labelling in building consumer trust and expanding market access.
