Bobby CannavaleJames Corden and Neil Patrick Harris are one step closer to their Broadway returns.

The trio of actors are leading the first-ever Broadway revival of Yasmina Reza’s comedic play ART — and PEOPLE has an exclusive look inside the rehearsal room.

Photographer and The In-Between author Jenny Anderson snapped pictures of the stars last week as they began diving into the material. Judging from the moments she captured, the laughs between the three were flowing.

Director Scott Ellis (Take Me Out) was all smiles, too, as he posed with the cast. Also at the intimate table read was Reza, who was in town for the milestone.

The limited-run production of ART begins previews Aug. 28 at the Music Box Theatre in New York City and officially opens Sept. 16. Its 17-week engagement is currently scheduled to wrap on Dec. 21.

ART follows three longtime friends whose relationship is pushed to the brink when one of them spends a fortune on a stark, all-white painting. What starts as a simple disagreement over art quickly turns into a hilarious, high-stakes battle over friendship, pride and perception.

The play, which was translated from French by Academy Award winner Christopher Hampton, was first performed on Broadway in February 1998. It was nominated for three Tony Awards, winning Best Play.

“Ever since I first saw the original production, it has been etched into my mind as a hysterical and moving portrayal of friendship, compromise and the power of art to change perspectives,” producer Michael Shulman said in a statement back in May, when the play was announced.

Veterans of the stage and screen, ART marks the first time Harris, Corden and Cannavale have all worked together.

Harris returns to Broadway for the first time since his Tony-winning turn in Hedwig and the Angry Inch in 2014. Corden, too, makes his first appearance since 2012's One Man, Two Guvnors, the comedy that earned him a Tony Award.

Cannavale, for his part, is a two-time nominee, recognized for his performances in Mauritius (2008) and The Motherf----- with the Hat (2011).

Tickets for ART are now on sale.
