Arewa group hails Tinubu for fairness in Northern appointments
The Arewa Joint Action Movement (AJAM) has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his recent appointments, which it says reflect fairness and inclusivity in the representation of the Northern region within the federal government.
The group said that the appointments offer Northern Nigeria a renewed sense of belonging and confidence in the federal structure.
In a statement issued by Lauretta Bako, Convener of the group, AJAM commended the President for addressing longstanding concerns over regional imbalances in federal appointments, noting that the latest developments demonstrate Tinubu’s responsiveness to constructive criticism and his willingness to ensure that governance reflects Nigeria’s diverse makeup.
The group also said that the President’s recent moves not only affirm his sensitivity to national concerns but also serve as a bold step toward fostering unity and reinforcing national cohesion.
Bako said: “In recent months, the discourse surrounding the need for equitable representation in federal appointments has intensified. Many voices from the North expressed apprehensions about perceived imbalances that could undermine the unity and cohesion of our great nation.
“It is with great satisfaction that we now observe President Tinubu’s response to these concerns through a series of appointments that prioritize fairness and inclusivity.
“The recent appointments made by President Tinubu are a clear indication of his administration’s responsiveness to the aspirations of the Nigerian people. By ensuring that key positions are filled by capable individuals from the Northern region, the President has demonstrated a commitment to rectifying past imbalances that have long been a point of contention.
“This move not only fosters a sense of belonging among the Northern populace but also reinforces the principle that every region of Nigeria deserves equitable representation in the federal structure.
“Furthermore, these appointments should be seen as a testament to President Tinubu’s willingness to engage in dialogue with the citizenry. The ability to listen and adapt is a hallmark of effective leadership, and President Tinubu’s actions exemplify this quality.
“By taking into account the feedback from various stakeholders and making adjustments accordingly, he has established a framework for a more inclusive governance model that prioritizes the interests of all Nigerians, regardless of their regional affiliations.”
The movement expressed hope that the recent appointments would serve as a catalyst for stronger cooperation among Nigeria’s regions and contribute to more effective national governance.
It also called on the President to continue prioritizing inclusivity and open dialogue in his leadership.
He added, “A government that reflects the diversity of its people is better equipped to address the multifaceted issues facing the nation. We are optimistic that these appointments will pave the way for enhanced collaboration and understanding among the various regions of Nigeria.
“We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to fairness and inclusivity in his recent appointments. The Arewa Joint Action Movement stands ready to support initiatives that promote equitable representation and foster national unity.
“We encourage the President to continue on this path of inclusivity and to remain open to constructive feedback from all quarters, as it is through such engagement that we can build a stronger, more united Nigeria.”
