The initiative, known as ‘The Leading Vibe’, was unveiled by the 30-year-old singer on Wednesday via her .

It is aimed at equipping young African women with the tools, training, and community they need to thrive as music creators.

“I’m so proud to launch The Leading Vibe. From my self-taught journey with no roadmap, I created this initiative to support African women in music, those breaking barriers, building boldly, and leading the next wave,” she said.

In a video accompanying the announcement, Tems shared her motivation behind the project.

She reflected on her own journey in an industry where female representation remains limited in key roles such as production, engineering, and songwriting.

“There are thousands of young women just like me, with a voice, a gift, and a desire to be heard. I want to be someone that shows people that there’s hope,” she said.

“Because I know that the most heartbreaking thing is to see a light dimmed and a fire never ignited. While the music industry is great, there hasn’t always been a space for women. Women creators, women producers, women engineers, women writers.

“That is why I’m starting The Leading Vibe initiative for the ones that believe, for the ones that have a desire to be heard and a dream to be seen. The ones who dare to be different and are just waiting for that one space where they can express and be the best versions of themselves.”

The project will kick off in Lagos from August 8 to 9, starting with an immersive two-day experience for Nigerian women aged 18 to 35.

It will include workshops, masterclasses, and panel discussions led by experienced professionals in the industry.

Participants will gain hands-on training, access to professional tools, and networking opportunities designed to prepare them for long-term success.

According to Tems, the initiative will also expand to other African countries. are now open for women interested in being part of the programme.

Tems, born Temilade Openiyi, started to gain popularity in 2020, courtesy of her collaboration with Wizkid on the song ‘Essence’.

In 2023, she earned her first Grammy for her contribution to ‘Wait For U’, the 2022 hit song by Future featuring Drake.
