The Taraba State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Vanguard has raised concerns over the frequent foreign trips of Governor Dr Agbu Kefas, questioning their effectiveness in attracting foreign investments to the state.
In a statement signed by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Amb. Rikwense Muri, the APC Youth Vanguard highlighted that the governor has travelled extensively to countries including the United Kingdom, Finland, Germany, France, the United States, and most recently, India, where he participated in a ministerial panel.
While acknowledging the importance of seeking investment opportunities, the group expressed disappointment that these trips have yet to yield significant economic benefits for the state.
According to reports, the Taraba State Government spent over ₦6.5 billion on foreign trips last year alone, a figure they argue places an unnecessary strain on the state’s finances.
The APC Youth Vanguard called for a reassessment of the governor’s strategy, urging a shift towards initiatives that would have direct and tangible benefits for Taraba’s residents.
They stressed that funds allocated for foreign engagements could be better utilised in local development projects that directly impact the state’s economy and infrastructure.
“As advocates for youth and development in Taraba, we urge the governor to critically evaluate the effectiveness of these trips and prioritize efforts that deliver real outcomes for the people,” the statement read.
The group reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that genuinely uplift Taraba State while calling for greater accountability in governance.
