Anthony Edwards Fought Ex Daja in Court Months Before Ayesha Battle | In Touch Weekly

NBA star battled his ex in court months before his current ugly legal battle with his other ex began, In Touch can exclusively report.

According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Anthony, 23, filed a petition for legitimation, custody, parenting time and child support against Daja on February 20, 2024.

In the filing, Anthony said he was the biological father and Daja was the biological mother of a daughter named Aris Ariel Carlyle, born in 2023. The filing noted that Anthony and Daja were never married.

The NBA star said he did not believe he was listed as the minor child’s father on the birth certificate. Anthony asked the court to award him joint legal and physical custody of their daughter.

He asked that child support be set by the court. Daja filed an answer and counterclaim on March 28, 2024. In the filing, Daja admitted that Anthony was the father to her daughter, born out of wedlock.

She asked the court to determine child support but opposed Anthony’s request for joint legal and physical custody. She asked the court to award her primary physical custody with Anthony having reasonable parenting time.

In April 2024, Anthony filed a motion asking the court to prohibit Daja from contacting third parties with whom he associates.

The NBA star accused Daja of “engaging in repeated and unsolicited harassing communications with individuals associated” with him, “including through text messages.” Anthony’s lawyer noted, “These individuals are part of [Anthony’s] team of representatives, including those working for [Anthony’s] agency.”

Anthony’s lawyer continued, “The communications vary from demands to speak to [Anthony], threats about what is to come if [Anthony] and his attorneys do not abide by her demands, providing information about the scheduling of various proceedings in the future and [Anthony’s] ‘required’ appearance at same.”

“There is no rhyme or reason for [Daja] to contact individuals who work for [Anthony]. They do not work for her, they do not answer to her and they are not there for her to communicate with, nor do they want to speak with her,” Anthony’s lawyer added. “They are also not involved in these proceedings.”

The attorney continued, “Nor do they have the authority to enter into agreements with [Daja] on [Anthony’s] behalf.”

Anthony’s lawyer claimed Daja’s “conduct is harassing and causing unnecessary conflict and stress for [Anthony] and third parties. This attempt to sabotage [Anthony’s] personal and professional relationships must ends.”

His lawyer argued, “Due to the conduct that is taking place, there is an urgent need for the Court to intervene to prevent ongoing and future harm and harassment to the Father and his associates.”

Anthony asked for a court order prohibiting Daja from contacting his associates.

Daja opposed the request. She denied Anthony’s claims she was harassing him and his team, and denied that she was causing him unnecessary conflict and stress.

Around the same time, Anthony asked the court to be excused from a conference.

His lawyer explained he had a playoff game that he needed to practice for.

In addition, his lawyer noted at the time, “It is vital that the Father attend practice to prepare for the upcoming playoff game of the first round of the NBA playoffs and to ensure he gets proper treatment to prevent any injuries. This is especially true since the Father was just chosen to the USA Olympic team for the upcoming Summer Olympics.”

In September 2024, the parties were preparing for trial. Anthony noted that he was paying $5,000 a month in temporary child support to Daja.

He admitted he had an annual gross income of over $10 million, while Daja had a gross annual income of $8,000.

His lawyer wrote, “What is also clear is that the Mother is trying to use child support as a means to make it so that she does not have to work. [Daja] is voluntarily unemployed or underemployed, claiming to make less than minimum wage. She has no disability. And she refuses to provide the bank statements to show how she spends her money on the child.”

His lawyer continued, “There has been no indication that the monthly $5,000 the Mother receives, which is already in excess of the presumptive amount, does not support or fulfill the minor child’s needs. If $3,222.00 is presumed to be the appropriate amount of child support, then the Mother receives an additional $1,778.00 each month to provide the minor child the same economic standard of living enjoyed by children living in an intact family with parents of similar financial means.”

Anthony argued he should pay $3,222 a month in child support for their child. Around the same time, the court closed the clerk after a final consent agreement was entered by the parties. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

As In Touch first reported, Anthony and his other ex, Ayesha, filed dueling paternity lawsuits over their daughter, Aubri Summers Howard, in October 2024.

The exes are still fighting in court. In the ongoing g case, Anthony made it clear he has no interest in custody or visitation with Aubri. Ayesha submitted a series of alleged texts from Anthony. One alleged message sent from Anthony urged Ayesha to get an abortion.
