Anthony Edwards' Ex Arrested for DUI 2 Years Before Meeting NBA Star | In Touch Weekly
’ ex was arrested for driving under the influence two years before she met the NBA star, In Touch can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Ayesha, 37, made contact with an officer from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office on February 19, 2020, at 3:49 a.m.
Ayesha, who gave birth to Anthony’s daughter Aubri’ Summers Howard in October 2024, was driving a 2015 silver Infiniti.
According to the police report, Ayesha was pulled over for a traffic stop due to her failing to maintain lane on the passenger side and for failure to use a turn signal for a lane change.
The officer said he smelled the odor of alcohol. Ayesha told him she last consumed alcohol two and a half hours ago by drinking one glass of wine.
The police officer said he asked Ayesha to participate in field sobriety tests. He said he placed her under arrest after making the determination she was not fit to drive.
The officer noted, “A search incident to arrest was completed on Ms. Howard’s motor vehicle where a firearm (Taurus 9mm) was located in the center console. The firearm returned with no record and appeared to be legally owned.”
Ayesha was placed under arrest. She did not want her blood was to be drawn. Ayesha told the officer that she was afraid of needles and did not want her blood to be drawn and said she would take a urine or breath test.
The officer performed a breath test at the scene and Ayesha blew a 0.075, which was a little below the legal limit of 0.8.
Georgia allows for an arrest even if their BAC is below the legal limit. The citation noted that Ayesha was taken to jail. She was released on $4,565 bond and ordered not to drink alcohol while waiting for her next hearing.
Prosecutors charged Ayesha with driving under the influence of alcohol – less safe, which is the charge when the BAC is below the legal limit, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to signal lane change while operating a motor vehicle and for driving on a suspended, canceled or revoked registration.
Ayesha entered a plea of nolo contendere to the charges as part of a plea deal reached in January 2022.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Ayesha was sentenced to 12 months’ probation and to pay fines.
Ayesha was ordered to meet with a probation officer and submit to any requested search by law enforcement, per the deal. Anthony’s ex also had to submit to any evaluation her probation officer recommended for substance abuse.
The sentence also had Ayesha complete a DUI class. Ayesha handled the classes and paid the fines quickly and asked for her probation to be terminated early in April 2022.
Her probation officer and the judge signed off on the probation being terminated on April 7, 2022.
As In Touch first reported, as part of her court battle with Anthony, 23, Ayesha said she met the NBA star in 2022.
In a declaration, submitted in her California paternity battle, Ayesha told the judge, “I met Anthony Edwards in 2022. Over the course of our relationship, we spent time together in various cities while he played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, and during his off-season. In January 2024, I discovered that I was pregnant with his child.”
Ayesha and Anthony are currently fighting over which state will determine paternity and child support.
The duo submitted to a DNA test in December 2024 that confirmed Anthony was the father.
In a separate declaration, opposing the case being heard in California, Anthony admitted her was not seeking custody of visitation with Aubri’.
He wrote, “[Ayesha] and I have one minor child together, Aubri’ Summer Howard. Paternity was recently established through DNA testing. I am not seeking child custody or visitation of Aubri’. Therefore, the only issues to be resolved are financial in nature.”
As part of his plea to have the dispute heard in Georgia, where the NBA star filed a separate paternity suit against Ayesha, Anthony added, “[Ayesha] falsely implies we had sexual relations in various cities but fails to inform this court that none of those relations took place in California.”
As In Touch first reported, Ayesha submitted a series of alleged texts as part of her lawsuit.
She accused Anthony of urging her to get an abortion once she told him she was pregnant. Ayesha wrote, “I am not asking for anything beyond what is fair and just: that Anthony be held accountable, that he steps up as a father, and that my daughter and I are allowed to move forward without further delay or obstruction.”
A judge has yet to rule where the case will be heard.
