Anantapur cops arrest three of Dhar gang, booty worth Rs 1.9 crore recovered | Vijayawada News - The Times of India
Tirupati: Anantapur police arrested three persons from the notorious Dhar gang from Madhya Pradesh and recovered stolen property including gold, diamond studded ornaments and cash worth approximately Rs 1.9 crore from the possession of the accused.
Speaking to reporters at the district police office on Sunday, Anantapur SP P Jagadeesh stated that the accused were identified as Naru Pachavar, Santhiya Dhudve and Sunil, all belonging to different villages in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. Police are on the lookout for two other accused who managed to escape.
According to the Anantapur SP, the accused are part of the notorious Dhar gang of thieves, who are most wanted in multiple Indian states due to their criminal activities. There are about 60 odd thieves in the Dhar gang, who split into smaller teams and go on a house break-in spree at Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. The modus operandi of the gang is to identify locked houses during the day time and decamp with valuables from the targeted houses by night.
On 22nd January this year, the Dhar gang were involved in the house break-ins reported at three villas at Rajahamsa sweet homes near Srinagar colony in Anantapur. The five member thieves gang decamped with cash and valuables worth approximately Rs.2.13 cr.
Following the directions of Anantapur SP, four special teams were formed immediately to investigate the case.
When the key accused Pachar tried to dispose off the stolen ornaments to a Kadapa based dealer Sunil who has links to MP and is a seasoned trader involved in buying stolen property, the Anantapur police nabbed all the three accused, while two others identified as Mohabbat and Metla managed to escape.
According to Anantapur SP, Pachar is an accused in about 32 house breakin cases registered across several Indian states and all the others nabbed by the police are also accused in multiple cases.
District SP appreciated the efforts put in by the four special teams to arrest the accused within 20 days after they committed an offence at Anantapur and for the notable recovery made in the case.
