5 pilgrims killed, several injured as bus falls into gorge in Gujarat

NEW DELHI: Five people were killed and 17 others sustained injuries after a private bus carrying 48 pilgrims plunged into a deep gorge near

Saputara hill station

in Gujarat's Dang district early Sunday morning.
The accident occurred at around 4.15am near the Saputara hill station when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to break through the crash barrier and plummet approximately 35 feet into the gorge.

Two women and three men died on the spot in the accident, according to in-charge Superintendent of Police SG Patil.
"Five pilgrims died and 17 others suffered serious injuries and have been rushed to a civil hospital at Ahwa. Some others have sustained minor injuries. The rescue operation is nearly over," the official said.
The pilgrims were residents of Madhya Pradesh, specifically from the districts of Guna, Shivpuri, and Ashok Nagar.
The injured passengers were taken to a civil hospital in Ahwa for treatment, while others sustained minor injuries in the incident.
