Amazing Race's Jack Dodge Addresses Death Rumors After Finale Dedication | In Touch Weekly
Amazing Race star cleared up some rumors and let everyone know he was alive and well after a dedication to a man named Jack Walworth had fans thinking the season 37 winner had died.
“People thought I died,” Jack, 27, told his Amazing Race teammate and podcast cohost in a TikTok video shared on May 24. “So, after the race ended, obviously, my name is Jack, and you never hear my last name [on the show], it goes, ‘In Memoriam of … Jack [Walworth].’ It didn’t show a photo or anything and people thought I died.”
He put his hand over his mouth as he stifled a laugh and made sure fans knew that he wasn’t making light of the dedication, but just that he was shocked that he had to clarify that he was still alive.
“It is just crazy with the way that it was presented, that people thought I was dead,” Jack added.
After the finale of The Amazing Race season 37, text appeared on the screen that read, “Dedicated to our dear friend,” and “Travel safe, Jack.” Because many viewers didn’t know Jack the contestant’s last name, some assumed the gamer had died.
“My whole family gasped when that thing about Jack Walworth came up,” one person wrote on Reddit.
However, Walworth was actually a producer on The Amazing Race for several seasons. He worked on the series from 2006 to 2025, according to IMDb, and his skills earned him and his fellow producers two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Walworth also worked on The Amazing Race Australia, Expedition Unknown, Stringers: LA, Cops, Unexplained Mysteries and more.

“As a producer on a wide range of shows for over 30 years, Jack develops shows with deep, authentic stories,” Walworth’s website reads. “Working with some of the most creative, talented people in television, he brings a patience and persistence to lead a project team to completion and give it legs for future seasons. His life experience adds maturity in an industry of constant, dramatic change but with the same needs: To attract and hold viewers in a variety of formats while integrating organic sponsors in real stories.”
The Amazing Race dedication to Walworth didn’t specify if he had died or simply retired from working as a producer on the series, but his family shared an update on his health in December 2024.
“Hi, this is & Dorothy Low, Jack’s child and wife. He hasn’t been well, and we wanted to reach out to his friends and see if anyone would like to send us videos talking about special memories or moments you’ve had with Jack, what you love about him and the magic he brings to this world,” the post shared via Facebook read. “We’ll edit them together into a piece to show him and hopefully brighten his spirits and to have as a keepsake of the legacy of his magic in this world.”
