New African Confederation of Interior Designers (AFCID) President,  Dr. Jennifer Chukwujekwe, founder of Jenniez School of African Interior Design,   has called on professional bodies, schools, and practitioners to collaborate with AFCID in strengthening the industry.

Dr. Chukwujekwe was appointed during AFCID General Assembly in Yaoundé, Cameroon, by Patron, Dr. Rosalia Arteaga, former president of Ecuador.

Chukwujekwe, creative director of Jenniez Designs and past president of Interior Designers Association of Nigeria, said she would transform the industry.

“This is not just a tenure but a movement,” she said. Join this movement to elevate our industry.”

Her vision is to position AFCID as the voice for interior design professionals, foster collaboration, drive growth, host events, and showcase African talent on the global stage.

AFCID, founded in 2022 by Cameroonian Interior Architect, Léonie Bwemba, unites and elevate interior design in Africa. She will serve a four-year term, bringing her experience and reputation for championing African excellence.

Her appointment coincided with the inaugural Handicrafts and Interior Design Exhibition at Yaoundé Sports Palace. The event, opened by Cameroon’s Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises, Social Economy, and Crafts, Achille Bassilekin III, under patronage of President Paul Biya, attracted top officials, diplomats, and creative industry leaders.

With the theme: “Handicrafts and Interior Design: A Timeless Alliance,” it highlighted the connections between artisanal crafts and interior architecture. Supported by AFCID, the Cameroonian Association of Interior Designers, and African Union, the event underscored the cultural and economic potential of Africa’s creative industries.
