Nollywood actor Adeniyi Johnson narrowly escaped a robbery attack in Lagos shortly after landing in the country.
The incident happened on Sunday, May 11, not long after the actor returned to the state.

He shared his experience via Instagram, warning authorities to act fast on real security problems, not just stop-and-search routines.

According to Johnson, “Story time again!!! Lagos needs better security than those stop and search that ask ‘oga how weekend, anything for us?!!’”

The 47-year-old actor explained that within seconds, his vehicle was surrounded by a group of suspected robbers while he was stuck in traffic.

“I heard a big bang on my windshield and the next thing I saw were 3 thugs all over my car! Trust me they were more but that was all my eyes out of fear could count!” he wrote.

He added that the hoodlums attempted to yank off his side mirrors and smash the windshield. He blamed the attack on two faulty trailers that had blocked the road and worsened traffic.

“From both sides I heard ‘yo mirror e’ and the other side ‘fo glass e’… all these happened because of two mumu trailers with smoke occupying the whole road and not driving on their lanes!!”

Johnson, who is married to actress Seyi Edun, thanked God for helping him escape without injury.
He also urged the government to invest in more proactive security systems that go beyond checking car boots and begging motorists.

In the same post, he took a moment to celebrate his colleagues who shone at the 2025 AMVCAs held Saturday night at Eko Hotel and Suites.

He congratulated Mercy Aigbe, Femi Adebayo, Lateef Adedimeji, Mo Bimpe, and Gabriel Afolayan for their wins. Femi won Best Lead Actor for “Seven Doors”, while Chioma Chukwuka grabbed Best Lead Actress in the same film.

Lateef and his wife Mo Bimpe were awarded Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa) for “Lisabi: The Uprising”. Mercy Aigbe bagged Best Supporting Actress for “Farmer’s Bride”, and Gabriel Afolayan clinched Best Supporting Actor for “Inside Life”.
