Abducted Anambra NDLEA Director, Daniel Onyishi, Regains Freedom | Sahara Reporters
Onyishi, who was kidnapped on June 12, 2025 along Winner Road in Awka, is now in safe custody and receiving medical care, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the release of Mr. Daniel Onyishi, the Director of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Anambra State, who was abducted earlier this month.
Onyishi, who was kidnapped on June 12, 2025 along Winner Road in Awka, is now in safe custody and receiving medical care, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
The Police said his freedom was secured through a joint effort involving security agencies, particularly high-level covert operatives of the NDLEA led by the Zone 12 Commander, Mrs. Florence Ezeonye.
According to the police, the combined rescue operations of the Police and sister agencies, especially the NDLEA, were instrumental to the safe return of the victim.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, has briefed the Police High Command on the development and activated the IGP’s directive to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book,” the statement added.
