AAU alumni association reiterates commitment to advancing institution's legacy
The Lagos State Chapter of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Alumni Association has reiterated its commitment to advancing the legacy of the institution through active alumni engagement, community service, and support for the ivory tower.
This pledge was made during the chapter’s election to choose a new set of executives that will steer the ship of the association for the next tenure.
The election, conducted yesterday, under the supervision of the chapter’s Electoral Committee, chaired by Dike Henry, with Prince Ade Ajayi as Secretary, Barr. Tony Erahbor and Lilian Ikpea as members, was adjudged free, fair and transparent, in line with the association’s constitution.
At the end of the exercise, the following members emerged as the newly elected executives – Chairman – Barr. A.R.T Omuvwie; Vice Chairman- Lady Adesua Ogidi; Secretary- Andrew Enegbeta; Assistant Secretary- Ehizuelen Godstime Ehis; Financial Secretary- Michael Akharamen; Assistant Financial Secretary- Donnelly Simire; Public Relations Officer- Rufus Alele; Assistant Public Relations Officer- Margaret Odion Igboa and Treasurer- Blessing Tehilah Karimu.
Others are Welfare Officer- Ikpea Lilian; Assistant Welfare Officer- Belnardine Oyiboka; Legal Adviser- Isaac L. Akoyere; Editor in Chief- Dike Akwunna Harry; Ex-Officio-(IPCM)- Rev Samuel Okotete; Ex-Officio- Sebaston Nwokoro and Ex-Officio- Mrs Felicia Umeh Bakare.
According to the PRO, Alele, the immediate past chairman, Rev. Samuel Okotete, officially handed over to the new leadership in a brief but symbolic ceremony witnessed by members and delegates. The newly elected officials were then sworn in accordingly.
He added that the election was observed by the Worldwide Assistant Provost, Comrade Alfred Oloni, a representative of the National Executive Council (NEC), who praised the chapter for setting a remarkable example of democratic engagement and alumni unity.
In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman, Omuvwie, expressed gratitude for the trust reposed in him and promised to lead with openness, commitment, and a renewed spirit of service.
