Viewing insider transactions for (NASDAQ:PTON ) over the last year, we see that insiders were net sellers. This means that a larger number of shares were sold by insiders in relation to shares purchased.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Chief Accounting Officer, Saqib Baig, sold US$244k worth of shares at a price of US$4.88 per share. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (US$6.96). We generally consider it a negative if insiders have been selling, especially if they did so below the current price, because it implies that they considered a lower price to be reasonable. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. It is worth noting that this sale was only 36% of Saqib Baig's holding. Saqib Baig was the only individual insider to sell shares in the last twelve months.

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. Peloton Interactive insiders own about US$37m worth of shares. That equates to 1.3% of the company. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
