Social media personality 2mbili has broken his silence after former police spokesperson Charles Owino accused him of inciting a mob that torched a police station during the funeral procession of slain blogger Albert Ojwang.

In a recent interview, Owino pointed the finger at 2mbili, blaming him for fuelling tensions that allegedly led to the destruction of Mawego Police Station in Homa Bay on July 3, the day Ojwang’s body was returned home for burial.
“There was incitement that made these young people, led by Mr 2mbili, to grab the body and take it to the police station and eventually torch the station. Our question would be, do they really know what they are doing? Tomorrow, when they have left, who protects that village?” Owino posed.
Emotions ran high in Homa Bay that day, as Gen Z protesters took charge of Ojwang’s body shortly after it was airlifted from Nairobi.
The demonstrators, calling for justice, stormed Mawego Police Station, where the blogger was allegedly held before his transfer to Nairobi Central Police Station, where he later died.
Videos widely shared on social media, many posted by 2mbili, captured the angry crowd chanting and marching through the streets with the casket, demanding accountability.
Moments later, the station was set ablaze, with images showing it completely engulfed in flames as police officers watched from a distance.
Reacting to Owino’s accusations, 2mbili shared a snippet of the interview on Instagram with a sarcastic caption that left fans amused.
“Mzee ameamua kunipeana tu hivo?” he quipped, adding several laughing emojis.

In yet another contentious statement, Owino alleged that Boniface Kariuki, the young protester shot during the anti-police brutality demonstrations, had hurled insults at the officer moments before he was shot.
The confrontation was caught on camera and rapidly spread online, sparking national outrage.
Owino came to the officer’s defence, describing him as a 24-year-old with less than two years of experience.
He claimed the officer had been armed with rubber bullets but lost control and fired improperly amid the chaos.
