2025 Superbet Poland Darts Masters preview | PDC

The 2025 Superbet Poland Darts Masters begins on Friday evening, as World Champion Luke Littler sets his sights on back-to-back titles in Gliwice.

Following events in Bahrain, Den Bosch, Copenhagen and New York, the year’s fifth World Series of Darts event will take place on July 4-5, as a 16-player field go head-to-head at the PreZero Arena.

Reigning champion Littler and 2023 winner Michael van Gerwen will headline the third edition of the Poland Darts Masters, which will also feature five Host Nation representatives.

Littler celebrated victory on his Poland Darts Masters debut 12 months ago, coming through epic affairs against Peter Wright and Michael Smith before sweeping aside Rob Cross to claim the spoils.

The teenage sensation will open his title defence with an intriguing clash against Karel Sedlacek, who steered Czechia to a maiden World Cup of Darts quarter-final last month.

“It was an amazing feeling to lift this trophy in front of a massive crowd, and hopefully I can defend the title this weekend,” reflected Littler, the current World Series Finals champion.

"It's an amazing experience travelling the world on the World Series and I loved my time in Poland last year.

“I'm looking forward to my first game now. I think the first game in any tournament is the biggest, because then you’ve got that winning feeling on stage and you know how to win.”

Dutch superstar Van Gerwen is the only other former champion in this year’s star-studded line-up, having produced a series of astonishing displays in the tournament’s inaugural staging two years ago.

Van Gerwen averaged 106.63 across his four matches in Warsaw, and the three-time World Champion will begin his latest challenge against Croatian newcomer Pero Ljubic – one of four debutants in the field.

Friday’s first round will see the eight PDC superstars locking horns with their eight East Europe counterparts, as Poland’s number one Krzysztof Ratajski makes his highly-anticipated return to home soil.

Ratajski will take on Welsh number one Jonny Clayton for a place in the last eight, with both players enjoying a welcome return to form over recent months.

Clayton has won a brace of ranking titles in 2025 to catapult himself into the world’s top five, while Ratajski ended a near two-year wait for silverware with a Players Championship title in May.

“I am very happy that I have the opportunity to play in Poland. This is something special for me,” insisted Ratajski, a Poland Darts Masters quarter-finalist in 2023.

“Every victory makes me happy and gives me a boost of self-confidence, and my form is good and quite stable, so I'm hoping for a good performance.

“I think winning this tournament in front of the Polish audience would give me more joy than winning any previous tournaments. I believe it is possible, and I will try to make this dream come true.”

Ratajski’s World Cup partner Radek Szaganski will also be in action in Gliwice, although he’s been handed a tough test against last weekend’s US Darts Masters runner-up Nathan Aspinall.

Aspinall defeated Littler for the second consecutive World Series event on his way to reaching the final at Madison Square Garden, and the Stockport star is revelling in his rich vein of form.

“I had a fantastic weekend in New York,” declared the 2023 World Matchplay champion.

“It was probably one of the best tournaments I’ve played in a long time.

“It has been a tough road back to feeling like myself again; it’s been three years of hard graft, but I have never felt this confident.

“For the first time in a very long time, I really believe I’m one of the best players in the world.”

Top seed Stephen Bunting has been the stand-out performer on the World Series circuit this year, claiming titles in Bahrain and Copenhagen while also reaching the final in Den Bosch.

Despite suffering an early exit in New York, Bunting will play Tytus Kanik for a place in the last eight, while 2024 runner-up Cross takes on the returning Krzysztof Kciuk in his opener.

Gerwyn Price also faces Polish opposition in former UK Open quarter-finalist Sebastian Bialecki, as the in-form Welshman sets his sights on a fourth World Series of Darts crown.

Elsewhere, world number six Chris Dobey will make his Poland Darts Masters debut this weekend, and he goes up against Hungarian qualifier Gyorgy Jehirszki in the opening match of the tournament.

Following Friday's first round, the Superbet Poland Darts Masters will conclude on Saturday evening with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final during a bumper session of action in Gliwice.

The tournament will be broadcast live on ITV4 in the UK, through the PDC's worldwide broadcast partners including DAZN and Viaplay, and on PDCTV (excluding Germany, Austria & Switzerland based subscribers).
