Detectives from the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two members of a notorious armed robbery gang as they were trying to snatch a commercial tricycle from its owner at gunpoint in the Ajegunle area of Lagos.
The suspects, Azeez Anofi, 25, aka Stainless, and Damilare Obadia, 25, were struggling to take over the tricycle when they were sighted by detectives from Layeni Police Station.
The state police spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident, stated that the arrest followed a series of public complaints about armed robbery incidents along Layeni Ojo road, Ajegunle
Hundeyin said based on the complaints, detectives were deployed to various places in the area.
“The two suspects were arrested in the early hours of April 28, 2025, at about 6.30am.
“Following the arrest, one locally made pistol and one expended cartridge were recovered from the suspects. Further investigation has commenced to arrest other suspects and recover other operational weapons,” he added.
