One-on-one battles are always cool, but they're even better when fought in gigantic robots in the depths of space. Secondly, mecha anime often blend various genres together in masterful ways. Action, suspense, intrigue, and romance are brought together against a backdrop of stunning mech battles. Sometimes, the series are just plain fun, offering nothing more than popcorn entertainment on massive scales.

But like any good series, a good mecha anime can become an amazing one if its ending can stick the landing. There's nothing worse than loving a series only to watch it end with a thud. Good endings don't always equate to happy endings, though, so fans should be prepared for some emotional whiplash.

Spoilers will be discussed in regards to the ending of each of these series, so please be aware while reading ahead.
