Zelensky's gratitude video to America

A video compilation showcasing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressing gratitude to the United States a staggering 94 times has gone viral. This comes on the heels of a reported heated exchange at the White House between Zelensky, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Vice President JD Vance, which allegedly led to Zelensky being asked to leave the meeting.

The video, shared by Ukrainian news agency United24 Media on X, highlights numerous instances since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, where Zelensky voiced his appreciation for American support. According to Newsweek, United24 Media specified that the 94 instances were tracked solely from Zelensky's daily addresses, suggesting the actual number of times he has thanked the U.S. is significantly higher.

The video includes a statement from February 12, where Zelensky said, "I am grateful to President Trump for his genuine interest in our shared opportunities in which we can bring true peace closer together," as quoted by Newsweek.

Reportedly, the White House meeting preceding the video's virality was intended to be a diplomatic exchange regarding Ukraine's rare earth elements and security interests. However, the discussion purportedly turned confrontational, with Trump and Vance criticizing Zelensky for what they perceived as a lack of gratitude for U.S. support during the ongoing conflict with Russia. Newsweek reports that Trump accused Zelensky of "gambling with World War III."

The meeting reportedly grew tense when Zelensky defended Ukraine's actions, citing Russia's repeated violations of peace agreements. Vance is said to have advocated for diplomacy as the path to peace, leading to a heated exchange. Zelensky reportedly challenged Vance's position, referencing the loss of Ukrainian lives and the lack of prisoner exchanges with Russia. Vance responded by stating that it was disrespectful of Zelensky to try to litigate the issue in front of the American media, as quoted by Newsweek. The meeting was subsequently cut short, and a planned press conference to announce a potential U.S.-Ukraine mineral agreement was cancelled.

Following the contentious meeting, Zelensky posted a message on X expressing his appreciation to the American people: "Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Thank you @POTUS, Congress, and the American people. Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that."

In a further development, President Trump has reportedly suspended military aid to Ukraine. A White House official stated that the aid is being paused and reviewed to ensure it contributes to a solution, emphasizing Trump's focus on peace and the need for partners to be committed to that goal, according to Newsweek.
