Xiaomi Launches Upgraded X Pro QLED TV Series in India

Xiaomi has recently introduced updates to its X Pro QLED series of smart TVs, initially launched the previous year. These 2025 models aim to make advanced features more accessible to consumers. I had the opportunity to briefly test the 65-inch variant of the X Pro QLED TV and here are my initial thoughts.

The design of the new models remains consistent with the previous series, featuring a slim metal bezel surrounding the display. In addition to the 43-inch and 55-inch options, a smaller 32-inch variant will also be available, further reducing the price point and enhancing accessibility. The new remote has rounded sides for better grip and is taller than the previous version. It includes a number pad and new RGYB buttons at the bottom.

The TVs now include enhanced built-in box speakers, addressing feedback from the previous series to improve audio delivery. While the 43-inch model maintains the same 30W audio output, the 55-inch and 65-inch models receive a boost to 34W. During my brief testing, the audio quality was notably clear, loud, and immersive, potentially eliminating the need for an external soundbar. However, this assessment was conducted in a controlled environment.

The displays, which typically operate at 60Hz, can now double their refresh rate using DLG (Dual Line Gate) technology when needed. According to Xiaomi, this is particularly beneficial for watching sports or playing games on consoles that support high refresh rates. All three models offer 4K 120Hz panels, but it’s important to note that DLG can reduce the panel's resolution to achieve faster frame rates.

A key feature of the Xiaomi X Pro QLED series is Filmmaker Mode (FMM), designed to display content as intended by the filmmaker, regardless of the source. FMM corrects aspect ratios and frame rates, preventing artificial enhancements. Essentially, it's a picture mode that disables unnecessary alterations like frame insertion, sharpening, and color boosting. This results in a natural, untouched viewing experience for both standard and HDR content. The mode can be activated manually or automatically via metadata in the content.

During my demo, the Dolby Vision Filmmaker mode on the new X Pro series produced natural colors with reduced sharpening and disabled motion interpolation. Xiaomi’s PatchWall, along with Android TV, performed well during the demo. However, concerns remain about the long-term performance of these affordable smart TVs, especially given the lack of hardware upgrades compared to previous models. The port selection remains the same, including two USB 2.0 ports, one Ethernet port, an AV port, three HDMI ports (one with eARC), an earphone jack, and an antenna port.

The Smart TV experience is powered by a quad-core Cortex A55 CPU and a Mali G52 GPU, with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, identical to the previous model. The Xiaomi X Pro QLED series is feature-packed, with prices starting at Rs. 31,999. A detailed review is recommended before making a purchase.
