World Music Day Celebrations

World Music Day was celebrated with great fervor across India, bringing together diverse musical communities. In Ahmedabad, the Gujarati music fraternity marked the occasion with a special program titled ‘Gujarati Geeto na Meghdhanush’. This melodious gathering, held last week, featured prominent artists such as Prahar Vora, Gargi Vora, Paragi Amar, and Chinmay Buch, who delivered soul-touching renditions of Gujarati songs. Dr. Darshana Thakkar hosted the event, which was further enhanced by the orchestral support provided by Sandeep Christian. The event brought together the crème de la crème of the Gujarati music industry, highlighting the rich musical heritage of the region.
Meanwhile, in Imphal, the Sur Musical Institute (SMI) also celebrated World Music Day on June 23, 2025. The celebration took place at the institute's auditorium in Bamonkampu, Imphal East. The event was graced by the presence of the institute's director, Surchandra Gotimayum. Students of SMI showcased their talents by performing a variety of musical genres, including folk songs, fusion pieces, and modern and film songs. The day concluded with a captivating musical program, demonstrating the institute's commitment to nurturing musical talent and promoting diverse forms of music.
