Scattered rain in city; heavy showers predicted across state

Ahmedabad: The city recorded light rainfall of 1 mm until 8 pm on Tuesday, accompanied by overcast skies throughout the day. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers for Ahmedabad on Wednesday.The weather recorded a dip in temperature, with the maximum at 30.9 degrees celsius, 7 degrees below normal, and the minimum at 26 degrees, 1.6 degrees below normal. A trough stretching from the northeast Arabian Sea to south Jharkhand continues to influence weather patterns, the IMD said.Elsewhere in Gujarat, Nandod in Narmada district received the highest rainfall of 220 mm, followed by 181 mm each in Dahod and Tilakwada, as per the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC).

More than 22 talukas across eight districts recorded rainfall above 100 mm, while 24 others recorded over 50 mm.

The IMD has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in districts including Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, and Valsad on Wednesday.A yellow alert has been sounded for isolated heavy rain in parts of Gandhinagar, Kheda, Anand, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Dangs, Tapi, and coastal Saurashtra districts such as Rajkot, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, and Botad.Widespread rainfall is expected across most parts of the state over the coming days, the IMD added.
