Wontumi's Detention: Watch as Nana B clashes with police at EOCO office

Published 1 day ago2 minute read

The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, was involved in a heated exchange with police officers at the premises of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on Wednesday, May 29, 2025.

The confrontation occurred amid growing tensions surrounding the detention of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi.

In a moment of visible frustration, Nana B was heard saying, “If he likes, he should kill us all,” as he confronted the actions of the security personnel on the ground.

On Thursday, May 29, 2025, the Minority Caucus in Parliament staged a sit-in outside the EOCO headquarters, demanding the release of Bernard Antwi-Boasiako.

The MPs marched from Parliament and occupied portions of the street directly in front of EOCO’s office in Accra Central, drawing significant public attention.

Some NPP supporters also blocked a police riot control vehicle using a pick-up truck and car tyres in protest over the continued detention of their regional chairman.

Supporters gathered in solidarity described the situation as an unlawful delay, especially after reports indicated that Chairman Wontumi had already been granted bail.

Bernard Antwi-Boasiako was granted bail of GH¢50 million with two sureties on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. However, his legal team has yet to fully satisfy the conditions required for his release.

He is currently under investigation by EOCO over alleged financial transactions involving the Ghana Export-Import (EXIM) Bank.
