Falmouth Coastguard said it attended to assist Cornwall Fire and Rescue

A woman was rescued by fire and coastguard crews after falling 8ft (2.4m) down a well in Cornwall, Falmouth Coastguard said.

Falmouth Coastguard said its Land's End crew was scrambled to the incident in Porthcurno on Monday at about 13:50 BST, to assist fire crews with the incident.

Maggie Howell from the coastguard said they used "rope rescue techniques" to "extract the woman" and she was brought out safely.

The woman was uninjured, she added, and the rescue was an example of inter-agency working with Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, which the BBC has contacted for comment.
