A 63-year-old Oregon woman was injured and charged with second-degree negligent driving after crashing into a light pole on northbound Interstate 5 in the Chehalis area around 11:15 p.m. Thursday evening.
According to a Washington State Patrol release, Jackie M. Baker was driving her 2005 Toyota Camry on northbound I-5 near Green Hill School when she became distracted and swerved left and then right, striking a light pole on the right shoulder. The vehicle then spun out, crossed over into the next lane and struck the center median.
Baker, who was wearing her seat belt, was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be involved in the incident, according to the state patrol.
