The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has questioned the Electoral Commission (EC) over the exclusion of the Glory Land Hotel Odorkor (1) polling station from the list of polling stations slated for a rerun in the Ablekuma North constituency.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, July 3, the General Secretary expressed his surprise that the EC announced plans to rerun elections in 19 polling stations, despite what he described as a clear consensus that only three polling stations remain uncollated.

“There is absolutely no debate that only three polling stations remain uncollated,” he asserted.

“So, even if we were to accept a rerun, it ought to be limited to these three. Why is the EC suddenly talking about 19?” he quizzed.

Kodua expressed deep concern that the Glory Land Hotel Odorkor (1) polling station (station code C161205A), which had previously been identified and agreed upon by all parties as one of the three outstanding stations, is conspicuously missing from the EC’s rerun list.

“How did the EC arrive at 19? And why is Glory Land Hotel not among them? This is a serious omission that cannot be overlooked,” he decried.

He further described the EC’s claim that the 19 scanned results used in the collation process were not verified by presiding officers as an “afterthought.”

He urged the Commission to clarify its position and processes.

“This is how God has chosen to expose the inconsistencies of the EC,” Kodua added.

He has called on the Commission to restore trust by providing answers to the questions he has posed.

The Electoral Commission is yet to issue an official response to the NPP’s concerns.
