"When outsiders come in with a "platinum spoon," I struggle to buy into it": Baron Corbin speaks out on Logan Paul's WWE career | WWE News - The Times of India
YouTuber-turned-wrestler Logan Paul might have reached phenomenal heights in his career, but not everyone in the locker room might be thrilled about his rapid success in the wrestling business, considering people with much more skills and talent have to struggle to find a spot in the industry to this day. Former WWE star
Baron Corbin
recently spoke about the impact of top-tier figures entering the wrestling scene on the wrestlers already in line to get a breakthrough. While discussing several things in a recent interview, Carbon did shed some light upon this inevitable crossover impact.
While conversing on
The Ariel Helwani Show, Corbin was asked about his thoughts on social media mogul Logan Paul, whose rapid rise in the
wrestling industry
has been quite evident in the past few years. After being asked about his locker room reputation amongst the fellow rising talents, Corbin stated, “He works hard and wants to perform. Some of the things he says are true, some are part of the show, and some irritate me. He talks about the business and guys who just do it for social media. When they tell me how good they are, but they're not doing live events in small towns, I don't like it.”
Further in the discussion, Corbin underlined the idea of easy success with a strong reference to Paul; he stated, “They didn't earn their spot by working up from
NXT
. They got it because of their social media and YouTube fame. I think there's more deserving talent, but he's getting the push. It's a double-edged sword. He works hard for big matches. They bring in guys from Puerto Rico for him to train with. He wants to learn and get better. I don't like people with entourages, and he always has one. But people respect the work he brings and the effort he's put in.”
What really caught the attention of the viewers was how Corbin concluded with his personal take on such crossover exceptions. He stated, “I'm protective of this industry, and when outsiders come in with a "platinum spoon," I struggle to buy into it. Some guys do; some don't care. Seth Rollins doesn't care; he's at the top. But 85% of the roster is fighting for spots.”
In the modern-day scenario, where WWE is constantly elevating its level around the globe, the amount of talent coming in is stunning, but we do believe that the presence of a prominent personality does affect the righteousness in the industry. While many wrestlers wait for years to get a breakthrough, some get it way too easily for it to be called a struggle. This bias might lead to personal differences; however, with an industry so vast, it is not graceful to not welcome those who want to further contribute to the business.
