There is concern about the lack of overnight cooling, which could increase the heat-related dangers.

In The Weather Channel's morning briefing, it explained that “by Sunday, over 200 million people will experience temperatures well into the 90s, with some seeing triple-digit heat indices due to the high humidity.”

The National Weather Service in Birmingham said to expect “afternoon showers and thunderstorms will be scattered over the weekend, becoming more isolated next week as the heat dome builds.”

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that the “chance of any one spot getting wet is in the 20-30 percent range.”
