Investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has reaffirmed his unwavering stance in the fight against corruption and injustice, stating that he will continue to name, shame and jail miscreants in Ghana.

He made this declaration in a video he shared on his Facebook page after his victory in a legal battle against former MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong.

In the defamation case against the former legislator, which was heard at the Essex County Superior Court in New Jersey, the former legislator was found liable for defamation and slapped with damages to the tune of $18 million.

Speaking after his victory in the legal battle, Anas Aremeyaw Anas stated in a video that he will not relent in his effort to forestall justice, accountability and mitigate corruption.

In the video by the investigative journalist and captioned, ‘The Arc of Justice – A Triumph for Truth and Accountability,’ he said, “We shall name, shame and jail. Ghana deserves better. And I will never stop fighting for a future where justice is not the privilege of the powerful but the right of every citizen.”

The case, heard in the United State of America (USA), hinged on defamatory statements made by Kennedy Agyapong after the release of the BBC’s investigative documentary, ‘Betraying the Game’, on October 28, 2018.

It would be recalled that in January 2023, an Accra High Court presided over by Justice Eric Baah, dismissed another Anas defamation suit against Kennedy Agyapong.

The court ruled that although the words spoken against Anas were factual and capable of being defamatory, he could not prove his case.

Anas had prayed the High Court to award aggravated damages to the tune of GH¢25 million, arising from defamatory materials published by the MP.
