The operation, led by ACP Victor O. Godfrey, was launched following actionable intelligence and targeted locations in Wukushi and Mpape in the FCT, as well as Rigina in Kaduna State.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested three ‘notorious and wanted kidnappers and bandits’ during a sting operation spanning Abuja and Kaduna State.
According to a statement issued by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, on Tuesday, the suspects — Abdulkadir Abubakar of Mpape, Abuja; Mohammed Tasiu Sani, 25, of Rigina, Kaduna State; and Suleiman Jibrin, 27, from Sabon-Gayan, Kaduna State — were apprehended on June 29, 2025.
The operation, led by ACP Victor O. Godfrey, was launched following actionable intelligence and targeted locations in Wukushi and Mpape in the FCT, as well as Rigina in Kaduna State.
Police investigations revealed that the suspects operated deadly camps within the forests of Kachia and Rigina in Kaduna State, where victims were held for prolonged periods. They have been linked to multiple kidnapping incidents across Jere, Kajuru, and parts of the FCT, fueling security concerns in both regions.
An operational motorcycle, described as a “Boko Haram motorcycle,” was recovered during the raid. Police authorities said efforts are ongoing to recover additional weapons and apprehend other fleeing accomplices connected to the criminal network.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, praised the operatives for their resilience and assured residents that the Command remains committed to sustaining efforts against criminal activities in Abuja and surrounding areas.
He further urged residents to support the police with credible information to help combat banditry and kidnapping in the nation’s capital and neighbouring states.
The arrested suspects are currently in custody and are assisting investigators as efforts continue to dismantle their criminal operations.
