The competing schools are Keta Senior High Technical School (Ketasco), Keta Business College (Ketabusco), Zion College (Zico), Anlo Senior High School (Anseco) and Afiadenyigba Senior High School (Afiasec).

The rest are Volta Senior High School (Voltasco), Abor Senior High School (Aborsco), Tsiame Senior High School (Tsiamesco), Atiavi Senior High School (Atiasec) and A A Fia Senior High School (Anyasco).

This year's competition, the 60th edition, is expected to bring together over 3000 student athletes to showcase their talents in various sporting events.

The disciplines to be competed in are athletics, football (boys and girls), volleyball (boys and girls), handball (boys and girls), netball (only girls) and table tennis (boys and girls).

At stake are trophies, cash prizes, medals and certificates of participation.

Defending champions Ketasco will host the athletics section today with other 500 runners already registered for a showdown.

Secretary of the Southern Zone Sports Association, Keta and Anloga Municipality, Mr Paul Ocloo, noted that this year's event will be very competitive, considering the intensive preparations undertaken. 

He assured security for the safety of all participants: "We are expecting a lot of people, so we are involving the police and cadet services to ensure the safety of participants and spectators. So people should come and be part of history," he said.
