After a goalless first half, Scotland International Chris Kane scored a brilliant goal for the visitors in the 69th minute, with the crucial victory lifting the struggling Dunfermline out of the relegation play-off spot on goal difference.

With only three games to go, Dunfermline and Queen's Park are still not safe.

They're just five points ahead of the bottom team, Airdrieonians, so the battle to avoid relegation is still on.

Former Harambee Stars captain Wanyama came on in the 91st minute to help strengthen the midfield and make sure Dunfermline held on to the three important points.

It was his first game back after serving a suspension for a red card.

The 8th-placed Scottish giants will play Partick Thistle on April 19, then take on Airdrieonians before finishing the season against Greenock Morton.

St. Mirren claimed their third consecutive top-six finish in the William Hill Premiership with a thrilling 3-2 win over Ross County at the SMISA Stadium.

Harambee Stars striker Jonah Ayunga continued his fine form, scoring a goal and providing an assist as St. Mirren edged Ross County in a thrilling match to secure a top-six finish.

St. Mirren came out strong in the second half and took the lead just five minutes after the break when Ayunga scored his first goal since October in the 50th minute of the clash.

He connected with a great pass from Boyd-Munce, and although his first shot was saved by Amissah, he quickly scored on the rebound, giving St. Mirren a strong chance for a top-six finish.

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson said that securing a top-six finish for the third year in a row was an incredible achievement for the club.

He described it as his biggest accomplishment, even more significant than reaching cup finals or qualifying for Europe.

Robinson added that the challenges they faced this season were not the kind of things taught in a coaching licence, and that nothing had gone their way throughout the campaign.

"Achieving a top-six finish three years in a row is an amazing accomplishment for this club," said St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson. "For me, it’s the biggest thing I’ve done. Some might point to reaching cup finals or qualifying for Europe, but the challenges we’ve faced this season were unlike anything you’re taught on a coaching course. Nothing has gone our way,"as per the Guardian.

had earlier reported that former Harambee Stars captain Wanyama was shown a red card during his debut for Dunfermline.

Referee Ian Snedden sent off the midfielder for a handball.

Wanyama slipped while holding the ball outside the box and used his hand to stop an Ayr player from taking it.
