Valencia considering BCL path to NBA Europe

Valencia is considering a move from Euroleague Basketball competitions to FIBA Europe and the Basketball Champions League, following ALBA Berlin's path. According to Juan Carlos Villena of Las Provincias, talks are underway with interested parties regarding the NBA Europe project, including Valencia.
FIBA is reportedly working to persuade the Spanish team to join the Champions League. Valencia, which has a history in Euroleague Basketball, including three EuroCup championships, has not yet made a final decision. The club is engaged in discussions with both Euroleague and BCL to determine a strategic commitment before the end of the 2024-25 Liga Endesa season.
Valencia is evaluating its options, seeking favorable long-term financial and competitive guarantees to facilitate further club growth, especially with the upcoming move to the new Roig Arena. While remaining in the BKT EuroCup is a possibility, it is currently considered the least likely scenario for the 2025-26 season.
Access to the EuroLeague would require a six million euro investment for a three-year license, potentially ruling out other options. Villena also mentioned that NBA Europe is planning its launch in 2027. Currently, Valencia holds a 23-9 record with two games remaining in the ACB Regular Season, positioning them third in the standings and securing homecourt advantage for the initial round of the Playoffs. The team is coached by Pedro Martinez.
