Edo State governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced the formation of a joint fact-finding committee by the federal and Edo state governments to investigate the recent killing of hunters in Uromi, Edo State.

Speaking in Benin during a visit by a Kano State delegation led by the deputy governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, Okpebholo said President Bola Tinubu is deeply concerned about the incident and is committed to ensuring peace and safety across the country.

“The president is not happy with what happened and wants us to find the root cause and provide a lasting solution. This committee will play a key role in that effort,” he said.

He assured that the report submitted by the Kano delegation would be vital in guiding the committee’s work and ensuring justice.

Deputy Governor Gwarzo said their visit was to thank the Edo State government for its response and peaceful engagement following the incident.

“Kano State set up a committee to identify the victims, their next of kin, and survivors. Sixteen people from five local governments in Kano lost their lives. We are here to present our findings and trust that justice will be served,” Gwarzo said.

Governor Okpebholo and the Kano delegation also visited the Uromi community, where they met with members of the Hausa community affected by the incident.
